The pictures above are of a modified Nacra Mast
Rotation Device. The stock device was taken to the welder after it had
broken at one of the weld joints of the round, curved, strut which is attached
at each end near the open end of the rotator. He rewelded the strut and
then welded two small, thin, stainless steel plates in the corners formed
where the strut attaches to the rotator. (The plates already had holes
in them. The holes serve no purpose, but I'm sure that I will think of
one.) It is expected that the plates will help to spread the load and prevent
another break. It is interesting to note that the rotator support strut
weld failed in light air, sloppy seas. Welding
